"Hey! Would you like to join me for a game of badminton?" He spoke these words casually as I passed by his cubicle.
Known to be a tardy person, I was haphazardly walking to my cubicle and cursing myself for being so late while simultaneously trying to rehearse my To-do list for the day. I paused abruptly and looked at him, incensed at being intercepted. He too had a look of embarrassment on his face after having witnessed my reaction.However, he quickly gained composure and asked me again "Game for a game of badminton?" He swayed his arm in a forehand fashion trying to emphasize his intention even further.
I remember the sparkle in his eyes. He wouldn't have been more than 22, I wondered. Not having wanting to decline his invite, I requested him to give me another 10 minutes while signaling five on my hand and quickly made a dash for my cubicle.
The initial request of ten minutes turned to 20 and having been occupied with my work, eventually I forgot about the promise which was made to him. It was only when the clock struck 8 PM that I remembered the same.
I quickly glanced across my cubicle to his and he still seemed to be available, calmly poring over his work on the computer screen. A pair of headphones over his ears,music kept him occupied.
I walked up to him, apologized and suggested we leave for the court at once in case he was still interested.
He seemed more than happy and replied in an affirmative by flashing one of the sweetest smiles that I had ever seen.

* The End *
The memory still etched in my mind as if it was yesterday.
