The lessons that Last

She was walking mindlessly on the beach this evening. The soft wind felt comforting against her skin. The irritating migraine she had all day seemed to wane making her head feel lighter and her mane now wavering carelessly like a flag on a windy day. The beach was isolated to its core, Goans are not early risers she wondered. She could see the vast shoreline until the end where there was a fort stationed – the Sinquerim fort. She remembered having visited it a couple of years ago with her gang of college friends. The photos taken then, the memories, all of it flashed in her mind. There was a smile on her face. “ Help ” “ Help me ” a cry was heard. It was very faint and she could not trace the source of it. Infact she wondered if she was hallucinating and quickly scanned the expanse of sand to her left assuming the sea has nothing to do with it. “ H-H-H-E-L-P-P !”   she heard amongst gulps of water. The cries were too evident and she couldn’t ignore them anymore. Suddenly it...

Documenting my travels around the state – Part 1

It’s not that the number of corona cases are on the decline in Goa, however, I do venture out after taking all the necessary precautions of wearing a mask at all times(even at a beach) and carrying a hand sanitizer with me. I would like to document these outings in order to cherish the experiences as well as provide insights into some places to visit when in Goa. So here goes my list. 17 th Jan 2020 Arambol Beach I remember visiting this beach in an impromptu fashion to escape a lousy family gathering as a child. We were not dressed in beach-friendly clothes and to make matters worse, my cousin insisted we trek to a pristine location which housed a beautiful virgin lake. I still remember the visual like it was yesterday albeit it wasn’t. My memory dates back to 2000 and cut back to today, I could not believe what I witnessed. The so called lake now has a name – Sweet water lake. Also, the secluded treacherous route that we undertook then to make it to the lake is now well lin...

2020 in a Nutshell

It is the last fifteen days of the year. A year which we thought would never come to an end but just like all the good things, even the bad things are temporary. Personally for me, i have nothing much to complain about. This year has been nothing but fruitful.I have grown so much as a person and on a different note, i don’t think i can ever resume to eating restaurant food mindlessly like how i used to before. Sketching, painting, writing and moreover creating has taken precedence too. I have read anything and everything under the sun. I have lost a job, interviewed for many and ultimately joined the same company that backed out on me. I have evacuated my flat overnight and have also understood that many will not be there for you in your times of need. There are also some who will fiercely support you despite the turbulence and never let go. I also managed to revive some long lost friendships while doing away with the toxic ones both of which will always be cherished. Fitness as a conc...

December - the harbinger of joy

Everyone awaits the arrival of a new year with awe. A year of hopes, dreams, bucket lists and resolutions but i was the odd one out. I fantasised the year end and eagerly awaited the arrival of December. The last quarter in-fact. It signified the celebration of Diwali, my birthday, Xmas & New year’s eve - all of which brought about a sense of joy & pomp in my life. My romance with the month of December may also have something to do with the dip in temperatures as well. The sweaters, mufflers, monkey caps are out and no one bothers if you go for a second helping of chai. No one cares what’s under those layers of sweatshirts, if you are smooth like silk or hairy like a bear! If you watch closely, your breath too creates a halo of mist when you speak or cough - the latter being not a favourable thing to mention in these troubled times!  So this year given that it is an usual one, we adopted a different route to entertain ourselves. I decided to give my nephew Neel the Christma...
