Disconnect from the usual and Rethink.

This is what overthinking looks like. This is also how a messy bedroom looks like. But that's not the point. They say that a palm which has a lot of lines signifies a person whose mind is all over the place. It also connotes that the concerned person is sensitive to emotions and has an ability to connect with them on a much deeper level compared to others. Now that I am over 30 years of age and know fairly a bit about myself and the surrounding world, I can say that this observation is correct. Compared to others, I have a tendancy to overthink about people, their emotions and the associated situational outcomes. The good side being, I can anticipate how a person will react ( given a situation) and can prepare myself mentally for the associated outcome. For example: Last week, on an impromptu whim I decided to take a week off from work. This was because my parent's 35th wedding anniversary was around the corner and I wanted to plan a surprise getaway for them albeit th...

Too much of free time: A boon or bane?

It's Fri-yaay! and hence we are allowed to get a bit lethargic and nostalgic about life today. My friday mornings start on an amazing note. I try to get up a bit earlier than the usual, make a nice cup of hot chai for myself and usually wind up by sneaking in a quick bowl of oats so that I can endure the impending journey of 60 mins to Electronic City. Known to be the one who looks for joy in mundane activities and seldom complains. History has witnessed time and again - complaining gets you nowhere. You either figure a way out or deal with it.Period. Of late, I have been feeling that I hardly have any time to myself. I spend close to 10 hours at work and another 3 hours travelling to work. Add another hour of social media browsing as it is dedicated to Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.I try to sne...

Mysore - a quick weekend getaway

So my mom was in town to visit me this April and owing to a hectic week, I wasn't able to spend any quality time with her. On consulting my friends, I was suggested to take my mom to Mysore as it is a fairly driveable distance (approx. 250 kms) and there are multiple avenues for sighseeing - enough for a 2 day trip. Given that we were 3 ladies( my cousin Poonam decided to accompany us), I decided to hire a Zoom Car for 2 days as this would allow us to take turns to drive and hence enjoy the scenic locales enroute. We hired a Suzuki Swift costing us INR 4917 with a distance capacity of approx. 390 kms. The hotel was booked via MakemyTrip - Fortune JP Palace which is owned by the ITC group. This costed us about INR 5000 for 3 people (Deluxe Room) after applying a promo code. This hotel is well connected to all the touristy spots in Mysore as it is situated in the heart of the city. Day 1 : Having booked the car for a 6:00 am pick up, on reaching the venue, to our horror, we ...
